It's no secret that York County is booming with new businesses, restaurants, and attractions. With all of the rapid growth and development, it can be hard to keep up! Luckily, we've compiled a running list of upcoming openings and exciting happenings in York County for 2023. 

 


Restaurants & Breweries

Another Broken Egg Cafe

Another Broken Egg Cafe prides itself on four main specialties: breakfast, brunch, lunch, and, best of all, cocktails. ABE will open at The Perch at the intersection of Cherry Road and Oakland Avenue in Rock Hill, SC in early 2023.

Bossy Beluah's

With locations in North Carolina, the chicken restaurant Bossy Beluah's is setting up shop in Fort Mill on North White Street across from Walter Y. Elisha Park near downtown. The Jim Noble restaurant group chicken concept will replace the former Colemans Garage and offer indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy their famous chicken sandwiches.

Clutch Coffee Bar will soon open two South Carolina shops including a new location in Rock Hill at 2029 Celanese Drive. With locations in North Carolina and Florida, Clutch offers a variety of coffee, energy drinks, and other specialty beverages, along with breakfast sandwiches and nutritious snacks. Be on the lookout for Clutch's signature, "Muscle Mocha," a chocolate protein shake infused with two shots of espresso. 

Epic Prime

The duo behind Epic Chophouse will bring their skills to Rock Hill with a new, upscale steakhouse that will serve as the anchor tenant at The Sherbert Group's Power House project. Unique to its brand and name, Epic Prime will deliver cuts of USDA Prime steaks in an intimate setting. The restaurant is expected to debut in summer of 2023.

The culinary team behind the Flipside Cafe, Flipside Restaurant, and Salmeri's will open a new concept dubbed, Fortes Mill Eatery in downtown Fort Mill in early 2023. The 54-seat restaurant will be located in the former Local Dish space at 217 Main Street. The new menu will include upscale comfort food with seasonal flavors like diver scallops with bacon and South Carolina peaches. Cocktails will feature upscale, Prohibition-style drinks. 

Flip Out Burger

Jon and Amy Fortes are at it again with a new, chef-driven burger concept at The Power House in Rock Hill. Flip Out Burger will occupy a roughly 550-sq. ft. food stall and offer a menu focused on cooked-to-order food with top-quality ingredients. The original Flipside Burger will be topped with bacon jam and pimento cheese, while the Down South Burger comes with chili, crispy onions, and house slaw. 

Humble Cup Coffee Co.

What started as a dream in a coffee trailer is turning into a reality for Humble Cup Coffee Co. The husband and wife duo, Nick & Ashley Conforti opened Humble Cup Coffee Co. in 2019 and quickly gained a loyal following at the Fort Mill Farmers Market. The coffee roastery will open a permanent location in downtown Fort Mill at 414 Tom Hall Street in early 2023.

The duo behind Provisions in Waxhaw, NC will open a new taqueria concept will open at the Power House in Rock Hill in mid-late 2023. Gordo & Chuli’s Taqueria will offer scratch-made tacos including traditional favorites, as well as gluten-free and plant-based options.

Hoppin'

The Cotton Warehouse along Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill is being transformed from an old textile mill to a self-pour bar concept dubbed, Hoppin'. This will be the third location of the self-pour beer and wine taproom. Hoppin' is expected to open in early 2023. 

Javesca Coffee

Currently located in South Charlotte, Javesca Coffee is making a trip across the state line to open at the Power House in Rock Hill in 2023. Staple menu items will include cortados lattes, Nitro Cold Brew, and teas, along with freshly-made bakery items, breakfast wraps, and vegetarian options. The mission-minded coffee shop even provides meals to families in need for every bag of coffee sold.

The Local Scoop

The Local Scoop, a mom-and-pop ice cream shop will open at the Power House in Rock Hill in 2023. With small batches and locally sourced ingredients, there is something sure to delight at The Local Scoop. Menu favorites include Sea Salted Carmel and Dairy Free Staycation which is similar to a pina colada.

Longbottom Butcher Shop

Coming to The Perch in Rock Hill at 502 Chery Road, Longbottom Butcher Shop will offer the highest quality beef, seafood, chicken, veal, lamb, sausages, and pork at the lowest possible prices. Menu items will include certified Angus, USDA Prime, and American Wagyu beef. 

Middle James Brewing

Another day, another brewery! The Pineville, NC-based brewery, Middle James will open its second location at the Power House in Rock Hill in 2023. The new 2,800 sq. ft. taproom will feature a patio with Middle James' flagship brews to be on tap like the Hour Mark IPA and Great Musa, a wheat beer. A one-barrel system will provide opportunities for experimental brews. 

Ms. Lilian's Kitchen

Another restaurant set to open at the food hall space at Rock Hill's Power House will be Ms. Lillian's Kitchen. Expect southern-style food paired with homestyle comfort. 

Ninety's Milkshake Bar

Who doesn't love a good sugar rush? Ninety's Milkshake will open at The Perch in Rock Hill next to Another Broken Egg Cafe. Customers can expect decadent Instagram-worthy sweet treats like the Dunkaroos milkshake with vanilla cookie pieces and vanilla frosting. Be sure to watch out for their grand opening happening in early 2023.

Like its flagship location, Sosu in Charlotte, Naroodle Chibi will offer guests traditional ramen favorites that guests can enjoy or take on the go. The menu will include Ichiraku or spicy miso ramen, as well as other Japanese dishes. Naroodle Chibi will open at the Power House in Rock Hill in 2023.

Raille St. Restaurant

Coming to the City of York, Raille St. Restaurant is officially under construction. The restaurant will be situated at the corner of Raille Street and Blackburn Street. To learn more about the development and time of opening, click here.

From the owner of Fish Market Bar & Grill comes an all-new food and drink restaurant, located in Baxter Village. The new space will seat 50-70 people with plenty of outdoor space. Expect beer and wine on tap with pizza and other bar food options. Pet Piv is expected to open in the summer of 2023.

Rock Taco

From the creators of the Rock Hill staple Burgers and Barley, Rock Taco is an all new Mexican style restaurant right in the center of Downtown Rock Hill. The restaurant will feature a mix of traditional Hispanic dishes mixed with street food, plus an extensive selection of tequila. Rock Taco will also feature homemade, custom artwork along every wall of the restaurant. They hope to open in early 2023.

VooDoo Wing Co.

Alabama-based wing restaurant, VooDoo Wings will open in the former Blacow Burger space on Highway 160 in Fort Mill in early 2023. The menu features boneless or traditional wings with 15 flavors to choose from. Customer favorites include Cajun Ranch, Lemon Pepper and of course VooDoo, a medium-heat soy and sriracha sauce.

As part of Carowinds50th anniversary celebration in 2023, Carowinds will launch the all-new, Aeronautica Landing. Inspired by the spirit of adventure and innovation that made world history in the Carolinas, Aeronautica Landing will offer new and reimagined rides in addition to aviation-themed food and beverage destinations, and carnival games geared for emerging pilots. Mark your flight schedules for spring 2023 when Aeronautica Landing is expected to debut. 

The Flower Bar - Fort Mill

With two locations in Rock Hill and Lake Wylie, The Flower Bar will add another York County location in downtown Fort Mill. Whether you're looking for the perfect spot to create something with friends or grab a glass of wine with your significant other, The Flower Bar makes for the perfect setting. Plus, with a, make-your-own wine selection that features more than 120 different combinations, there's something for everyone. The Flower Bar of Fort Mill will open it's doors early to mid-2023.

The Moxie Mercantile

The Moxie Mercantile, a boutique committed to small business practice, is opening a fourth location in Fort Mill, SC (219 Main St.)! With the rustic feeling of downtown, the owner plans to keep its old building look and feel and create a 1,900 sq. ft. boutique, right in the heart of Fort Mill. From jewelry to handbags and tops to dresses, you can find all your next shopping spree goodies at The Moxie Mercantile, set to open in mid-2023.


Development to Watch

Allison Creek Park

Built by Duke Energy at the former Allison Creek boat landing, the 1,000-acre Allison Creek Park will feature 35-40 camping spots, hiking trails, kayak launches, bathhouses, picnic shelters, and more. The Park will be roughly four times the size of Ebenezer Park which is flooded with locals and tourists throughout the year. Learn more about plans for Allison Creek Park here

Catawba Bend Preserve

York County's 1,900-acre premier park on the Catawba River continues to transform into a one-of-a-kind, nature-based park for recreation. Catawba Bend Preserve will soon host youth and collegiate cross-country races as planned development continues. 

The Herald Site

Demolition is underway at the former Herald newspaper building at West Main Street in Rock Hill. The 7-acre planned mixed-use development will include apartments, commercial space, and parking.

Restoration to Fort Mill's historic Main Street is underway. Built in 1990, Kuester Commercial aims to preserve the town's history while bringing new, vibrant tenants to the area's quickly transforming downtown. 

The Power House

This adaptive-reuse project in Rock Hill's University Center will host a diverse mix of tenants including a food hall, steakhouse, brewery, gathering space, and more. 

Springfield Town Center

The Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center at U.S. 21, Springfield Parkway, and Old Nation Road in Fort Mill continues to grow. Recent additions include residential development, a childcare center, and food options like the chicken tender, wing, and sandwich shop, Slim Chickens.

The Thread

​Located in one of the most iconic buildings in the region, The Thread transforms 400,000 sq. ft. of historic industrial warehouse space in Rock Hill, SC into an exciting adaptive mixed-use development. Weaving together downtown and Winthrop University, The Thread will be a creative destination for the community to come together to work, eat, shop, and play. 

Three Points at South End

Part of the Clinton ConNEXTion Action Plan to revitalize South Rock Hill, Three Points at South End will feature a grocery anchor, a two-story mixed-use building, and two out-parcels. The Black Economic Leadership League (B.E.L.L.) will establish the Incubator for Economic and Social Impact as part of the project located where Saluda Street, Albright Road, and Heckle Boulevard.
