Visit York County is the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for developing an authentic, unified identity for York County, SC. As a DMO, the CVB aims to promote the destination's long-term development and marketing, focusing on convention, sports, leisure sales, tourism marketing, and services. The organization collaborates with the CVB Board, York County Council, and appropriate funding sources. In 2008, the Rock Hill/York County CVB became the first accredited destination marketing organization in South Carolina.

 

 

Sports Marketing Internship: 

Visit York County is seeking a sports marketing intern for the summer of 2024. Digital Communications Manager

Reports to: Vice-President of Content & Digital Strategy

Position Summary: The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and/or implementing a marketing strategy that fully showcases York County’s brand through increased audience/market attention and conversion. Works to grow Visit York County's digital presence, including engaging and retaining followers through social media, website, and creative assets.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Work with the marketing team to manage VYC’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads

• Maintain and update VYC’s events calendar 

• Maintain and update CRM listings for restaurants and attractions

• Oversee email campaigns, including The YoCo Buzz 

• Create graphics for social media, events, and print/digital assets

• Assists with the execution of VYC’s digital marketing campaigns, including web, SEO/SEM, email, social media and display advertising

• Assist with the creation of a monthly social content calendar 

• Execute social media campaigns and measure success

• Shoot/edit photo and video content 

• Represents VYC at new openings and community events

• Oversee and manage all YoCo Brew Trail-related matters, including social channels and digital assets

• Prepare presentations and suggested talking points, as well as create written content as needed

• Be actively involved in the community and its public organizations, serve on local boards and committees 

 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field; Or equivalent work experience

• Minimum of two (2) years experience in  social media, copywriting, graphic design, or related experience

• Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry preferred; hotel, agency, and/or DMO/CVB experience a plus 

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Suite, and other design software as needed

• Ability to shoot and edit photos and videos

• Excellent oral and written skills 

• Strong attention to detail and proofreading

• Familiarity with local and regional area

• Must be able to lift to 25 lbs. and transport equipment and materials for use in programs 

• Able to effectively manage time and work independently with minimal supervision 

• Able to travel and work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
