Visit York County is the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for developing an authentic, unified identity for York County, SC. As a DMO, the CVB aims to promote the destination's long-term development and marketing, focusing on convention, sports, leisure sales, tourism marketing, and services. The organization collaborates with the CVB Board, the York County Council, and appropriate funding sources. In 2008, the Rock Hill/York County CVB became the first accredited destination marketing organization in South Carolina.

Job Title: Destination Services Manager

Visit York County Summary: Visit York County (VYC) is the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for developing an authentic, unified identity for York County, SC. As a DMO, Visit York County’s mission is to raise the profile and boost the economy of York County, SC, through tourism sales and marketing while also contributing to the quality of life for our residents.

Position Summary: The Destination Services Manager is responsible for elevating the visitor experience in York County, SC. This role strengthens industry partnerships and creates visitor engagement opportunities to drive business across the community. This position works with tourism-generating events to deliver planning support and services, guaranteeing high-quality outcomes and customer satisfaction, as well as local economic impact. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with marketing staff on content generation for print and digital promotional purposes to improve strategic communication between businesses, events, and visitors
  • Develop and implement visitor experience strategies by enhancing event services and visitor information customized for specific markets
  • Attend and organize pre- and post-event meetings with event directors and meeting planners to determine needs and provide corresponding support with appropriate staff or vendors
  • Provide onsite servicing and visitor activation at events
  • Ensure effective execution of event deliverables, including financial commitments and direct involvement, as well as communication with event participants
  • Assist Event Recruitment staff in preparation and presentation of bids relating to services
  • Oversee all promotional opportunities with events at Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism facilities
  • Provide documentation and reporting for all event advertisements and partnerships that are needed for grant purposes
  • Drive tourism product development by growing events, promoting undiscovered assets, facilitating product partnerships, and strengthening connections
  • Analyze York County visitor data, report information to stakeholders, and make strategic recommendations to drive growth
  • Investigate new opportunities to develop a strategy that continues to evolve how Visit York County communicates to visitors
  • Develop and manage the Destination Services budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet organizational goals
  • Fulfill York County Destination Guide requests through local distribution and mailer packets
  • Ensure that area information is stocked and available within the Visitors Center
  • Oversee preparation of event materials, welcome bags, and promo items
  • Actively serve on local boards and committees and serve as an ambassador for the tourism industry
  • Other duties as determined by the CEO

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or sports management or a related field or equivalent work experience in hospitality and tourism 
  • One (1) to three (3) years minimum experience in the hospitality and/or operations field
  • Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry preferred; hotel, agency, and/or DMO/Convention & Visitors Bureau experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital software
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience working with grant platforms
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and transport equipment and materials for use in programs
  • Able to effectively manage time and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to travel and work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
