Robert Jones

Induction year: 2002

Jones excelled as an offensive and defensive tackle at both Gardner Webb and Appalachian State garnering All-Region honors and being named Co-captain his senior year. He began his teaching and coaching career at Fort Mill High School in 1961 coaching football, girl’s basketball, varsity golf and initiating the school’s first track and field program. Became head coach and athletic director in 1965, and during his tenure won Region Coach of the Year awards
in both football and golf. His 1974 golf team won the state golf title.
