Elk Ave Tavern: A Taste of Tradition
I had the opportunity to visit the new Elk Ave tavern and was truly blown away by the warm ambiance, unique flavors and amazing hospitality. Eric, our server, born and raised in York County was full of knowledge, kindness and patience. Knowing this was our first visit to the restaurant, he made exceptional suggestions and took excellent care of us
The Kinch’s Legacy
Before Elk Ave Tavern graced the streets of York County, there was Kinch’s—a beloved establishment that left an indelible mark on the local dining scene. Kinch’s was more than just a restaurant; it was a gathering place, a hub of memories, and a testament to good food and community.
The Dynamic Duo: Hunter and Anthony
Enter Hunter and Anthony, two passionate food enthusiasts who fatefully crossed paths while working at Local Dish. Their shared love for flavors, creativity, and hospitality sparked a friendship that would eventually lead to culinary greatness. Together, they dreamed of creating a space that honored tradition while embracing innovation.
From Food Truck to Tavern
Before Elk Ave Tavern, Hunter and Anthony operated a wildly popular food truck called Cibi Cibi. Their mobile kitchen became legendary for its fried chicken sandwich. But the duo craved a permanent home—a place where they could weave their culinary magic tableside.
A Nostalgic Journey
When you step into Elk Ave Tavern, you’re greeted by a nostalgic theme that pays homage to Kinch’s. The main entrance whispers tales of yesteryears, with subtle nods to the original establishment. The walls echo with laughter, and the aroma of comfort food fills the air.
The Menu
Elk Ave Tavern’s menu is a delightful fusion of old and new. Classics from Kinch’s find their place alongside modern creations. Whether you’re savoring a juicy burger or indulging in a craft cocktail, you’re partaking in a legacy—a continuation of the community’s love affair with food.
What we ordered:
1. Double Fried Chicken Wings: It’s a bold move to double fry wings, but when done right, the result is pure magic. I can still practically taste the crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful meat.
2. Brussels Sprouts: Who knew Brussels sprouts could be so exciting? When they’re packed with flavor, they become irresistible. The balance of savory and perhaps a touch of sweetness—perfection!
3. Burger Nostalgia: Ah, the power of food to transport us back in time. That burger was a time machine to my childhood.
4. Infamous Chicken Sandwich: When a sandwich has a reputation, it better deliver—and it did! Juicy and flavorful—what more could you ask for?
5. Falafel Bowl: Falafel done right is a revelation. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with spices. I’m pretty sure my taste buds did a happy dance!
6. Perfectly Seasoned Fries: Ah, the humble fries—often underestimated but crucial to any great meal. Crisp perfection with just the right amount of seasoning—chef’s kiss!
7. Amaretto Cheesecake: Even if you’re not a cheesecake fan, sometimes a dessert surprises you. The taste and consistency were otherworldly.
Next time you’re in York County, I highly recommend you make a beeline for Elk Ave Tavern. Raise a glass to Hunter, Anthony, and the spirit of Kinch’s. It’s more than a meal; it’s a journey through time, flavors, and shared memories.
