Mountains to the Midlands Golf Alliance host stops in York County and the Olde English District for a golf and blues getaway
Rock Hill, S.C. (September 27, 2019) – On Oct. 1-5, the Arts Council of York County, Olde English District Tourism Commission (OED) and Visit York County will co-host golfers on a five-day, four-night golf experience in York County and the OED. Golfers will come from Florida, Illinois, Maryland and South Carolina to experience The Mountain to Midlands Golf Alliance: Golf & Blues Great Escape.
Upon their arrival to the Golf & Blues Great Escape, golfers will be greeted at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rock Hill, SC with a welcome reception. During their stay, the golfers will participate in three rounds of golf on courses located in York County and the OED. The golf courses include The Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill, and Carolina Lakes Golf Club in Indian Land.
Each year, Golf Packages of South Carolina host the getaway for participants of the great escape. “Every fall we plan a "Great Escape" to one of the four regions of the Mountains to Midlands Golf Alliance, and this year we are in the Olde English District where we’ve planned the Great Escape to coincide with The Arts Council’s Blues and Jazz festival,” says Ricky Saucier, Director for Golf Packages of South Carolina. “The region was a perfect choice for our visitors.”
In addition to golfing, the visitors will join the Arts Council of York County for the 15th Annual Blues and Jazz Festival kick-off in Baxter Village on Thursday evening. Friday will be a free day for the golfers to explore York County’s attractions including the Blues and Jazz Festival Restaurant Crawl located in Old Town Rock Hill.
Visit York County will welcome the group to Old Town Rock Hill with a Blues & Jazz Festival reception beginning at 6 p.m. “To ensure these visitors receive a true taste of York County, each will receive a welcome bag of items including locally roasted coffee from Knowledge Perk, PuckerButt Pepper Company’s famous hot sauce, and sweet jelly from The Peach Stand,” says Allison Cleveland, VP of Partnership & Visitor Services for Visit York County.
“We are happy to host these visitors from several places along the southeastern coast,” says Strauss Moore Shiple, Projects Director, for the Olde English District Tourism Commission. “Not only will they play some of the great golf courses in York County and the region, they will also get to experience our thriving arts and culture scene; as well as, sample top notch cuisine while here.”
For over 18 years, Golf Packages of South Carolina has created golf vacations in the Mountains to Midlands Golf Alliance including the four regions of Aiken, Columbia, Greenville, and Fort Mill/Rock Hill.
