Eddie Freed

Freed started his 1st major league game against the Dodgers on 9/11/42, and still holds the MLB record for most hits in a first career game with four. In 1943 he was drafted into the Army ending his big league career. He played for the Rock Hill Chiefs from 1947 - 1950. Freed managed Joslin Park from 1950 until the mid-1960s, was a starter for the Fort Mill Golf Club, and refereed high school basketball games in York, Chester and Lancaster Counties.
