Ag + Art Tour is back! York County is the birthplace for the now statewide Ag + Art Tour. It's the country's largest free tour of farms and farmers markets with artisans at every stop! Since 2012, Ag + Art York County has grown exponientially each year, holding 23 farms on the tour in 2019. With this great expansion of locations, Ag + Art York County decided to celebrate with TWO Weekends!
Ag + Art West is June 8th and 9th. You can find a link of all the farms on each participating weekend, here.
Although the forecast is calling for rain, this event WILL GO ON RAIN OR SHINE. If incliment weather closes the farms due to safety issues, they may open up the following weekend. We'll keep you updated.
Highlights from Week 2:
This weekend will focus on some of the bigger farms in the more agricultural, rural area of York County that are mostly west of I-77. If you'd like to take a bus tour of some of the farms, you can click here, but you must sign up by June 6th.
York's commercial farms including Blacks Peaches, Bush-N-Vine, and Windy Hill Orchard & Cidery will be open and will have special demonstations. Have lunch at Blacks Peaches, a hard cider from Windy Hill, and then grab your daily produce at Bush-N-Vine ending with some blackberry ice cream. Historic Brattonsville will also be open just down the road showing off their living history farm with hertiage breed animals. The kids will be able to engage with pigs, sheep, and even cows!
Don't miss a stop at Dori Sanders Peach Farm. The Sanders family operates one of the oldest African-American farms in the region. Her sharecropper father bought the land in 1915. Don't miss a chance to meet Ms. Sanders and hear about the legacy of her wonderful farm.
Have you ever wanted to see a dog the size of a cow? Now you can at the Melton Farm in Rock Hill. Their Scottish Highland cows are the cutest, friendliest things you'll ever encounter. Come take a selfie with them or feed them right out of a bucket. There's also a fantastic furniture woodshop at this location.
