Visit York County announces team matchups for the second annual Battle at the Rock Basketball Showcase
Multiple high school basketball teams from around the nation will compete in a three-day tournament to showcase their talents.

Rock Hill, SC ( October 16, 2019) – On December 12th-14th, Visit York County will partner again with Phenom Hoops to co-host the second annual Visit York County Battle at the Rock basketball showcase. The showcase will take place at Nation Ford High School, located at 1400 A O Jones Blvd., Fort Mill, SC. The showcase will feature three nights of the premier high school basketball teams in the country including both boys’ and girls’ teams.

A total of 36 high school basketball teams, 13 girls’ teams, and 23 boys’ teams will be in attendance throughout the three-day event. New this year, the basketball showcase will feature a Girl’s High School tournament, highlighting the best girls’ basketball in the Carolinas. The showcase invites high school teams from all around the country including local teams in York County, SC. The local high school teams participating include Rock Hill High School (Rock Hill, SC), Northwestern High School (Rock Hill, SC), Nation Ford High School (Fort Mill, SC), Fort Mill High School (Fort Mill, SC), South Pointe High School (Rock Hill, SC), Legion Academy (Rock Hill, SC), and Great Falls High School (Great Falls, SC).

Teams to watch during the showcase include Dorman High School, Oak Hill Academy, Moravian Prep, Dream City Christian, Cannon School, Combine Academy, and AZ Compass Prep.

Last year, teams from around the country came to compete in the sold-out event. Players who participated in the showcase are now playing for some of the top college basketball programs in the country and up for consideration as top future draft picks in the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.

Cole Anthony, recruited by the University of North Carolina has been recognized for the preseason All-ACC first team and player of the year candidate. Anthony is also the predicted top 3 pick in next year’s NBA draft.

The following players have been recruited from local and well-known universities: Armando Bacot, University of North Carolina; Josiah James, University of Tennessee; Jeremiah Earl-Robinson, Villanova University; Josh Green, University of Arizona; Josh Nickelberry, University of Louisville; Christian Brown, University of Georgia and Kofi Cockburn, University of Illinois.
