Top middle and high school football players invade South Pointe High School for nation’s largest football camp
ROCK HILL, SC – July 8, 2019 - On July 11th-14th, Football University (FBU) will host the annual FBU Top Gun Showcase at South Pointe High School, located at 801 Neely Road, Rock Hill, SC. FBU camps and showcases are an opportunity for the highest ranked middle school and high school players in the US to train with NFL coaches and players, build up scouting profiles, and compete against the highest level of competition in their age range. The middle and high school showcase will be July 12th-14th. The specialists showcase will be July 11th -12th and will feature Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailor Kicking.
Athletes will both compete on field and engage in detailed film room tape review, to both work on their own technique and notice tendencies in their competition’s game. Competitions will include 1-on-1, 4-on-3, run game and 7-on-7 play. Aside from improving their technique with expert coaching and gaining attention from schools on a national level, athletes will compete to earn roster spots for the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl, the National Combine at the All-American Bowl on NBC, the All-American Showcase, and the Futures Showcase.
This year, the FBU Top Gun Showcase will bring approximately 1,100 athletes to the camp. FBU officials have worked with several local organizations to provide scholarships to 23 local players. “It is always great to have big time football events in Football City USA,” says Andy Clinton, VP of Sales with Visit York County. “Football University Top Gun continues to create an impact to our hotels and restaurants, but also to the local youth that would normally not receive this kind of opportunity.”
The Top Gun camp sends many kickers, punters and long snappers to the All-American Bowl. More than half of last year’s roster for the Freshman All-American Bowl were invited from the Top Gun Showcase. “The excitement over bringing Football University to York County for the fourth consecutive year in a row is at an all-time high,” says Steve Quinn, President at Football University. “This year’s Top Gun Showcase will be exciting for a variety of reasons; being a part of Football City USA has always been a terrific way to end our camp year.” “We are excited about what the future holds for York County and FBU.”
Athletes and their families are welcome to explore York County, SC while they are here for the two to three-day event. Visit York County has partnered with area attractions to provide discounted access to many attractions in the area.
