Kid-friendly events at Come-See-Me Festival

Rock Hill’s annual kick-off to spring festival, Come-See-Me, is back with so much in store for York County. This year’s theme “Rocking Rock Hill” brings music from every era and genre along with all your favorite Come See Me festival events. With more than 80 events over 10 days, you may be wondering which ones are best for your kids. We’ve created this guide just for you!

Thursday, April 4

  • Parade Starts at 6:30pm

Music has the power to unite and that is just what we’re celebrating in the 2019 Come-See-Me Parade! “Rocking Rock Hill” will showcase music and bands from every era and genre of music.  The parade will begin at 100 East Main Street, then continue up Main Street. The route will turn right onto Elizabeth Lane at Fountain Park, then right on Black Street. The parade will end at the Black Street and Saluda Street intersection.

Friday, April 5

Chalk On Main| Fountain Park, 300 East Main Street, Rock Hill SC 29730

Are you raising a couple of Pablo Picassos? Why not bring them to Chalk on Main? This free event will be a great way to let your kids express their inner creativity without making a mess at home. Chalk will be provided so you won’t have to worry about bringing your own.

Beach Bash| City Hall Plaza, 138 East Black Street, Rock Hill SC 29730

Come out and enjoy your favorite beach hits and dance music from the 17South party band. Enjoy food from local food trucks and restaurants while listening to your favorite beach themed hits.

Musical Mania| Fountain Park, 300 East Main Street, Rock Hill SC 29730

  • Fun for kids of all ages
  • Time: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Come out and unwind at Fountain Park while your kids partake in a hands-on musical experience. Your kids will learn about a variety of music while playing an assortment of instruments. Every kid will also receive their very own Come-See-Me Kazoo and the chance to join Glen and Glenda in the Kazoo Parade.

Saturday, April 6

Healthy Kids Zone| Giordana Velodrome at Rock Hill Outdoor Center, 1000 Riverwalk Parkway, Rock Hill SC 29730

  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Canceled if rain

From tricycle and bike races to fun fitness dance sessions, there’s fit fun for everyone to enjoy. The kids will love the sports inflatables and face painting while you can enjoy taste testing a variety of healthy foods. The first 500 kids will receive Healthy Kids Goody Bags.

Mayor’s Frog Jump| Winthrop Lake, 290 University Lake Drive, Rock Hill SC 29730

  • Free event
  • Fun for kids of all ages
  • Time: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
  • BYOF or Rent a Frog

Your kids won’t want to miss this exciting event. Contestants can bring their own frogs to race or borrow one. The race starts at 12 and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners.

Sunday, April 7

Sundaes with Glen & Mother Goose| Glencairn Garden, 752 Crest Street, Rock Hill SC 29730

  • $2 per cup of ice cream

Come out to Glencairn Garden and enjoy an afternoon of ice cream sundaes with Glen and Mother Goose, sponsored by PW’s. Kids can also bring their favorite stuffed animals to the Ebenezer Animal Hospital to have their boo-boos fixed. Face painting, balloon twisting, and other activities will also be there for the kids to enjoy.

Tuesday, April 9

Teddy Bear Tea Party| Richardson Ballroom at Winthrop University, 2020 Alumni Drive, Rock Hill SC 29733

  • Entry fee: one new or gently used children’s book to be donated to a local children’s charity
  • Dress Code: Anything your child desires
  • Fun for kids of all ages
  • Time: 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Your little princess will love participating in Come See Me’s annual Teddy Bear Tea Party. This no dress code event leaves the attire up to your little fashionista. All that’s required is that she brings her tea party guest (stuffed animal) and share one of her favorite books with a child in need.

Thursday, April 11

Coloring Contest & Awards Ceremony| Charlotte Avenue YMCA, 402 Charlotte Avenue, Rock Hill SC 29730

Take your child’s masterpiece from the fridge to the gallery by participating in this year’s Coloring Contest. Entries must be completed and returned by 5pm on Saturday April 6 to the YMCA on Charlotte Avenue. Can’t make it to the Awards Ceremony? All entries will be held on display at the Charlotte Avenue YMCA until April 17th.

Broadway Night|  Sullivan Middle School, 1825 Eden Terrace, Rock Hill SC 29730

Bring your whole family out to a night of singing and dancing featuring performances from your favorite local actors and actresses!

Are your kids fascinated with big trucks? Well, head on out to this touch-a-truck event which will allow your kids to explore a variety of trucks while getting an in-person interview with the people who drive them.

Fireworks At The Tailgate Party| Winthrop Lake, 290 University Lake Drive, Rock Hill SC 29730

  • $5 dollars for adults 21 & Older
  • Parking $5 per car at the Winthrop Coliseum
  • Time: 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
  • Canceled if rain

Closing out this year’s Come See Me Festival is the Tailgate Party Fireworks Show! Get ready for all the ooh’s and aahh’s as your kids watch the fireworks light up the sky.
