If you’re visiting York County for Labor Day Weekend, heading over to Lake Wylie or the Catawba River is a must.

It’s the best way to cool down in this late summer heat, while having an adventure outside of the neighborhood pool.

1. Canoe, Kayak, or Paddle board the Catawba River!

You can start at the Fort Mill Dam and float down to the Riverwalk for a 3.5 mile trip in slow-moving water. You can also launch right at the Riverwalk as well, it’s open to the public year round.

If you’re looking for a guided tour with a rental, reach out to one of these area companies.

2. Clover Splash Pad

If you’re looking for an activity that suites the little ones, head to the new splash pad in Clover! This tiny town packs a punch with charm and the splash pad is sure to be a hit with the kiddos. You can find it at the New Centre Park at 501 Memorial Drive. It’s a 50-acre park that has room for you to enjoy a picnic too.

3. Carolina Harbor

The Carowinds Water Park, Carolina Harbor, is also a good substitute for the beach this weekend. Entry to the harbor is included with admission to the park, meaning you can ride some rides, feed the kids, and then head to the water park! There’s fun for every age, from intense water slides to splash parks.

Find full details about the Harbor, here.

4. Lake Wylie

Whether you’re getting on the water or just looking at it, Lake Wylie is a great backdrop for a holiday weekend. You can put your boat in the water or sit at T-bones and watch others do the work.

5. SouthTown Wake Park

The hottest new attraction to hit the area is right in Rock Hill. The SouthTown Wake Park allows you to learn how to wakeboard off a cable. You’ll have to check out their website to truly get the full experience.
