The Kings Mountain Hiking Club showcased the beauty of Kings Mountain National Military Park’s walking trails during its inaugural kick off for the Huzzah for Hiking Festival. The festival was created in order to promote healthy living in York County.
On Saturday September 6, 2014 many people came out in support of Kings Mountain’s brand new hikers club from 10:00am-4:00pm at their first Huzzah for Hiking Festival. The festival inspired a great deal of spectators attending the event sign up to become active members of the King’s Mountain Hiking Club.
There were many activities provided at the event for people of all ages. Children and their parents had opportunities to visit several booths to get information about York County and surrounding areas as well as make crafts like bird feeders, and they learned how to grow a plant. Guests were able to take home the bird feeders and plants that they made. There was also live music provided by The Mike Strauss Band from Charlotte, NC.
The Hiker’s Club was also supported by many vendors from around York County and surrounding areas to raise awareness of the many outdoor adventures available in the area.
The Kings Mountain Hiking Club hopes to continue to promote an active lifestyle for York County and the surrounding areas.
